Thank you so much. This was very helpful. I noticed the graphics are degraded. Do you know why? I absolutely love having media center in the house.

i've read the other post and all of the comments.  My problem is that I can see WMP on my PS3 and play videos and pictures on my PS3, but the music says there are no tracks and does not show any folders, etc.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this so I can play music on my ps3

ive done wat the video saya and the posting as well and my ps3 still doesnt detect my pc….do u have to have a homegroup in order for it to work?

    • http://www.igoy.in Yogesh Mhatre

I dont think so .. but you can give it a try

  • Philcocking

hey i liked your guide and followed it perfectly and the ps3 detects my pc but when i go into music and then all music it tells me there are no tracks, what am i doing wrong?

    • WANKER

You should try putting your songs in the default “Music” Windows folder

      • Adosun

If any one gets the “There are no tracks” message with PS3 and WMP12. Make sure to disable the IPV6 from the machine. For some reason PS3 doesn’t like it.

  • Tally ho you wankers

Hello mate, I only watched this video to actually find the media sharing button and I had to sit through minutes of your horrid pop-music. You could try editing your videos by removing the part where you wait for all your albums to load, which wasn’t even necessary in the first place.
     Cheers anyhow.

      It worked btw

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Dammit…done everything uve listed here. PS3 detects my laptop but no music files there. My desktop doesnt show up at all in my PS3 though I swore it did before…

    Anyways…this sucks

  • Jlird808

I see my PS3 under “All Networks” in the “Media Streaming Options” page so my desktop PC detects my PS3 but not the other way around….weird.

    • http://www.igoy.in Yogesh Mhatre

I could understand your frustration, but the only thing which you are now left is building the library. Rest everything is perfect from what you said.

Check the video.. It may help you

Well I got my PS3 to detect my desktop…I had to just restart it.

But now I have the same problem so many others have…I have the music folders and artist folders but “there are no titles”.

I have the right folders selected in WMP, obviously because PS3 displays the artist folders so it’s looking at the right place….correct?

I have a lot of songs in my default “Music” Windows folder yet they don’t appear in PS3. What is “default save location” in the “Music Library Locations” option box under “Manage Libraries/Music”? I have songs there too though…still dont see em on PS3.

After adding the Libraries did you restart both PC and then PS3.

I liked your guide and movie but it’s not covering my problem.  I can see the MAC code for my PS3 on my Windows 7 64 bit PC but my PS3 is only seeing one media server when it does a search.  Unfortunately that is the wireless router and not the PC itself so it looks as if my PC is not revealed on the network even though I believe I’ve made all of the settings mentioned.  I’m obviously using a wireless connection from my PC to my router and a wireless connection from the PS3 to the router.  I’d appreciate any recommendations to get this to work as I’d like to stream my photos from my PC upstairs to my PS3 in the lounge

  • AKS

I followed all your steps but my computer is not detecting my PS3 under the my devices…any clues? thanks!

  • Angrywhiteguy

I found out you need to put your music in your DEFAULT music folder not the one you list as your default “C:UsersMusic. I believe you either need to transfer all of your music you wish to stream there or maybe it is a registry key. I am going to look further into the issue and try to report back with any findings.

Also to note every change you make you should probably reset the PS3 for it too re-search all of your music files. Changes are not automatic as it does not update each time unless you restart

  • Anonymous

okay the post about the default music folder was incorrect. You need to move your music to the “C:UsersPublicMusic” folder. Still looking into it.

    • http://www.igoy.in Yogesh Mhatre

@theAngrywhiteguy:disqus Its not a compulsion that you should put your Media files to any specific location.

In the video My media files were in D drive, which is basically a Macintosh Partition and also on HFS+ file type.

All you need to do is add them to your library. Restart the PC, Restart the PS3 and it should be able to see.

Still I appreciate the effort you are taking in investigating this thing. Good Luck.
