Hey all!
anyone resolve the fast foward issue? ON PS3 can’t fast forward when streaming from Windows 7 Media Center (freezes for a few minutes). Works fine when streaming to another Windows 7 machine, only problem on PS3. PS3 and client Windows 7 are both wireless, so it should be a wireless issue. All access the Internet and local network fine.

Hi Yogi, I tried everything posted, and i still cant pick up a media server, i search for it and i get No Media Servers Found, and i have done everything on this page, I am connected to one modem, and would be doing this off my Laptop, i have gotten the connection before, but it goes away, and ive watched videos off my laptop on my ps3, but the the connection goes away again. i See the MAC Addresss and they are the same. please help

Hi Yogi,

I’ve the following problem:

On my PS3 I can find my PC there I can go to music->folders->E:\ drive (which is the drive I shared) -> MP3 (the folder that contains my MP3s

however in that once in that folder the PS3 can only see one subfolder (an album) with only one of the songs in that folder.

why is that?

I got my PS3 connected with WMP just fine with no problems. The issue it that my PS3 isn’t recognizing any of the media files on my computer, it says there are none.

Hi Yogi.
I have this problem.
I followed the steps provided by you on Eset Smart Security and PS3 Media Sharing.
And now, my PS3 shows my Computer’s name followed by the logo Windows Media Player.
However when I clicked on it, the problem in this page occurs. And so I followed your steps all the way until the ‘All Networks’ area and tried to find the unknown device that you are talking about but none appears. There is only 3 and all of them do not have the corresponding MAC address of my PS3.
I even followed an advice you said to someone by checking if Mac address is being blocked in my 2Wire router and it is not.

So what should I do now? I am so close to completing this. Please help.

I have set this all up as you have listed at top. Still getting the connection error on the PS3. It sees the media server but cant connect. I have firewall and virus turned completely off. Any suggestions?

Hey yogi if pos i need help and if you can make it as simple as pos as im very new to windows 7. I have had my ps3 accsessing all films,music and pic on hard drive (not nessesary windows media) with no problem but then also networked my mac with ps3 which works fine. But now i can see my pc even if mac is switched off.I followd youre steps above and cant see it on my media devics.Any help would be great.

Hi,

Great tutorial, connect my ps3 and my windows 7. but when i opened my files on the ps3, i could only see some of them. went back to the computer and noticed that the files i could not see where divx files i downloaded from the internet. they all have the icon on files where the computer doesn’t know what program to open it with, with a little lock symbol down in the corner. the funny thing is, i can play these files no problem on my computer, and i’ve downloaded other files that are exactly the same from the same internet site, and those run just fine on the ps3. so i’m wondering if maybe something with the settings on the filse on the computer is making them unrecognizable. is there something i can do?

again, great job on this tutorial!! very helpful.

Hello, it works perfectly but i have to restart the media sharing service every time i want to connect from the PS3.
Do you have any idea why?
